Dim sum was at Empire Garden Restaurant which wasnt Now 179 (Was 599) on. So since the food was close to the same quality, I'd rather go to the place with better prices, friendlier staff and great ambience. Pi Alley Parking Garage 275 Washington Street Boston, MA 02108 +1 617. $8.50 for the Chinese broccoli (we couldn't find it on the menu so we just asked for it.) The other plates were $5.50 each, and they charged us for the tea, which Empire Garden didn't do. What we were less happy with was the bill. Service was not very friendly and when we tried to ask a server (not ours, he wasn't on the floor) if we could get some hot mustard for the food that had just been brought out she turned her back on us and walked away. The beef meatball was okay, but it had a fairly strong taste of liver, so I suspect that it had at least some liver in it. Another dim sum stalwart in Chinatown, Hei La Moon’s bustling banquet room quickly fills on the weekend with carts pushing shumai, pork buns, har gow, chive dumplings, and sticky rice wrapped. The shrimp roll was a nice surprise it was or first time ordering it and it was a nice combination of crispy and soft with good flavor. The Chinese broccoli was tough and watery-I make this dish myself and mine is a lot better, as are ones we've had in other restaurants. The hum bow and shrimp dumpling were as we expected and the sticky rice was quite good. Chinese broccoli, shrimp roll, shrimp dumpling and beef meatball. It was dinnertime so there were no carts, ordering was from menu. Many Dim Sum restaurants deliver small plate on a cart and diners select the dishes theyd like as the carts pass through. This place was recommended by a friend who lives in Boston so we thought we'd try it. This was our second dim sum experience in Boston's Chinatown.
